UMBRELLA ROAD ON LEDERERGASSE

Explore Villach’s historic city center and walk down Lederergasse, which is shaded by hundreds of colorful umbrellas. These pop-up shade structures have become an annual summertime installation for the city of Villach and a favorite place to strike a pose.

HEART FRAME

The heart frame has been placed on the Hans Gasser Platz during the Christmas season over the past several years and now you can find it in Villach during summer as well. Grab the opportunity to share pictures in front of the huge metal heart-shaped construction, now found at the entrance to the Hauptplatz. Light it up and ‘cheese’!

OLD TOWN VIEW

Located at the beginning of the Draupromenade, another iconic spot offers a great view of St. Jakob’s Church and the pastel-colored buildings in Villach’s old town.

CITY’S BRONZE STATUES

A range of bronze statues, which portray some of the city’s traditions and serve as great photographic locations, are spread around the old town. For example, you can find the carnival fool (Faschningsnarr) at Nikolaiplatz, the “Trachtenpärchen” at 8. Mai Platz, and the bronze eagle at the Kirchenplatz - all very interesting statues, especially for art enthusiasts!

FLOWER FIELDS

Celebrate the sunflower season (usually from July through early autumn) and capture the spectacular landscape at one of the beautifully blooming fields near Villach. Part of the field across from Bruno-Kreisky-Straße is filled with sunflowers every year, and the gladioluses near Egg am Faaker also create a spectacular effect with their rich and cheerful colors. In and around Villach you can find a great variety of picturesque and visually-appealing spots - way more than the ones mentioned above! There are also murals, historic buildings, and summer decorations - you’ll find the most colorful backdrops in Villach’s old town.

A stroll in the historic city center isn’t complete without a picture on the main bridge (“Draubrücke”) with Dobratsch Mountain and the Drau River in the background. The wooden frames that were recently installed on the bridge will help you find the right angle and make your pictures even more artistic.
