It’s time to hit the slopes! Since the beginning of December the ski season in Villach has arrived.
The Villach region is home to two ski areas - the Gerlitzen Alpe and the Dreiländereck. If you are looking for beautiful runs, perfect powder and a great après-ski the Villach region is the place for you.

GERLITZEN ALPE SKI CENTER
Located north of the beautiful Lake Ossiach is the Gerlitzen Alpe ski center. It is only a 15-minute drive to the Gerlitzen Kanzelbahn, making it an easy destination for Villach skiers and snowboarders. Once you reach the summit of Gerlitzen, enjoy the scenic views of the Villach region as you ride down 60 kilometers of slopes. Don’t have a car? No problem! The Gerlitzen Alpe ski center runs a free ski bus from Lake Ossiach, Villach, and Lake Faak just check their website for more details. After a day spent on the slopes, enjoy a relaxing après-ski at the Cielo Mountain Lounge Bar. Drink schnapps, enjoy a pretzel or two, and warm up while enjoying the scenic vista. Even John Travolta thinks Gerlitzen is a great place to ski, he visited for a skiing holiday in February 2017.

DREILÄNDERECK
This small ski area has a unique location - it is right on the border of three countries: Austria, Slovenia, and Italy. Its prime location in the Karawanken mountain range means it is highly reliable for snow and benefits from the famous Carinthian sunshine. Dreiländereck is great for families and has a Kinderland at the valley station. Do you enjoy cross country skiing? Go the distance on Seltschach, the 10 km long cross-country ski trail that is 750 m above sea level at Dreiländereck. If you are looking for a traditional Austrian après-ski, look no further, Dreiländereck has four Alpine huts for a leisurely break. Experience Austrian Gemütlichkeit and cozy up with some delicious Austrian food.
